Prepared Childbirth Class

So, on Saturday we attended our prepared childbirth class. It was a really good, informative class, taught by our favorite nurse practitioner Beverly. We definitely learned a lot about what to expect from the start of labor until time to bring Brady home, but I realized that no matter what, it's gonna hurt. We watched videos of actual births--one where the lady did it naturally, and one where the lady got an epidural. After seeing that, I'm not sure why anyone would not want an epidural! I know I do!!!

We got to go on a tour of the labor and delivery area. We got to see a birthing room and a mother/baby room. It really made it all seem real, seeing a bed like the one I will give birth in! Right beside my bed is the warmer for the baby so they can get him all cleaned up and checked out right there in the room with me! Memorial has rooming in, so as long as everything goes well, Brady and I will room together in a mother/baby room starting an hour or two after delivery.

We also learned breathing techniques and different positions to try to get more comfortable while in labor. Brad did a great job on the massage too--I just gotta talk him into practicing that often! I've just got to remember to listen to him on the breathing stuff and not bite his head off--he'll be helping me concentrate on the breathing so I can get through the contractions.

Well, my due date is 2 months from today, so the real countdown is about to begin!
