Doctor Visit
Brad and I went to the doctor this morning for our 35 week visit (I am 35 weeks, 2 days). It was a pretty full visit! My efforts to drastically lower my sodium intake have worked! I have ankles again and have lost 1 pound since the last visit (where I had gained 8 in 2 weeks, mostly water). My blood pressure was 122/70, better than last time, and what is pretty normal for me. My blood sugar was 105. I had the strep B test. If I'm positive, I just have to have IV antibiotics during delivery. I am measuring 37 weeks, but I am not dialated at all yet, so I guess it's going to be a while! But, she felt the head when she checked me, so he's in the right position right now--let's hope he stays there! Because I've been having a good bit of lower back pain, they did a non stress test. It was all good---I'm not contracting, and the baby is doing great. Brady's heart beat is steady in the upper 140s/low 150s. Our next appointment is next Wednesday, July 9, where we will have our 36 week ultrasound! We can't wait to see him and soon meet him!! I am going to pack my hospital bag this week, just to be safe--it's getting close! :)

Poll
Well, I truly would like to thank those people who are voting for a baby in late July. As for those who think I will go until or past my due date, phooey on you! You try carrying a big ol' baby boy in the hottest part of summer, who makes you have to go to the bathroom every time you stand up! We go back to the doctor on Monday, so I'm hoping we might get some indication of what's coming when. I really just want to get to about 38 weeks and have him. I'm sure it'll be a week late or something, but everybody think late July!!!!

Tick Tock
Time is closing in! We are 34 weeks as of this past Saturday. Our next OB appointment is Monday the 30th. We'll have our last ultrasound the following week. I read that the Average pregnancy term is between 38 and 42 weeks. 38 would put us at July 19th. 42 would put us at August 16th. Hopefully we'll be able to narrow that down some before then. My guess is mid to late July, I think he's getting pretty tight in there. I can tell you that Mary is ready. She's done really well. Here ankles and feet started swelling really bad, but after cutting out sodium, that is no longer an issue. I put a little poll here on the left. Let me know how much longer YOU think we have!

Etrade Baby
I can't tell you how many people have made a point to tell me that his is our baby. I think it's hilarious either way.

Giving Thanks
It's days like yesterday that Mary and I realize how truly blessed we are. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful family, friends and neighbors. Yesterday we had the 3rd of 4 baby showers. We have had one in Greenville (where Mary and I both have family), one with my coworkers, one with our (mostly) Savannah friends and family, and Mary will have another this week at her office. We're pretty overwhelmed by the continued generosity and love that every has shown us. Thanks to everyone who has wished us well as we begin this journey.

The Nest is complete!
Back in April, Mary and I found a wonderful set of nursery furniture that was perfect for us. We ordered it from Georgia Baby and Kids in Norcross with the expectitation that it would be in around the middle of May. As we are all aware, more and more furniture is coming from Asia, and these pieces became delayed and would not have come in until supposedly mid July. So, I cancelled and went to see Eric at Punch and Judy. Eric hooked me up with I think is even a better set for us. I took a half day on Thursday and got furniture put together and set up. On Saturday, we added the hutch and decorated Brady's room. I think he's gonna be just fine. You can see that Mary was a little tuckered out by the end of the day.

Prepared Childbirth Class
So, on Saturday we attended our prepared childbirth class. It was a really good, informative class, taught by our favorite nurse practitioner Beverly. We definitely learned a lot about what to expect from the start of labor until time to bring Brady home, but I realized that no matter what, it's gonna hurt. We watched videos of actual births--one where the lady did it naturally, and one where the lady got an epidural. After seeing that, I'm not sure why anyone would not want an epidural! I know I do!!!
We got to go on a tour of the labor and delivery area. We got to see a birthing room and a mother/baby room. It really made it all seem real, seeing a bed like the one I will give birth in! Right beside my bed is the warmer for the baby so they can get him all cleaned up and checked out right there in the room with me! Memorial has rooming in, so as long as everything goes well, Brady and I will room together in a mother/baby room starting an hour or two after delivery.
We also learned breathing techniques and different positions to try to get more comfortable while in labor. Brad did a great job on the massage too--I just gotta talk him into practicing that often!
I've just got to remember to listen to him on the breathing stuff and not bite his head off--he'll be helping me concentrate on the breathing so I can get through the contractions.
Well, my due date is 2 months from today, so the real countdown is about to begin!
