G'ville Bound
The new family is taking it's first road trip. It's incredible how much stuff is required for such a little boy. I'm taking Mary up to Grenville to spend a week with her parents. It took some convincing on my part, but with me so busy with work right now and my parents traveling it just worked out to be a good time for them to get away for a little while. And I know her parents are thrilled. I'll be back in Savannah tomorrow and will go back up to get them on Friday.

How can one little baby have so much stuff????

He is LOVING his pacifier.

Doctor's visit
Brady had his 2 week appointment today (even though he's almost 3 weeks old!). He now weighs 9 lbs. and 1 oz. and is 22 inches long. He's grown an inch and a half since he was born!! Dr. Ben says he's doing great (perfect is the word he used!), and all his tests from the hospital were great. He doesn't have to go back until he's two months old---but then he gets nasty shots! Well, we won't worry about that now; we're just happy our boy is healthy and doing well.

New outfit and new toy

Check Brady out in his Traffic Jam outfit his Grandma and Grandpa Jones gave him. He also got to suck on a pacifier for the first time last night--he has such a strong sucking reflex, and he eats like a champ, so we decided he would probably like the pacifier when he's fussy and we know he's not hungry or wet/dirty, and he did. He loves it!

Busy, Busy, Busy....
Mary and I have been pretty busy over the past few days. We came home with Brady on Friday.

We had a really long night on Friday night as we learned to feed and care for Brady. We had our first pediatrician appointment on Saturday Morning and found that Brady had lost 15 oz of his birth weight. We started supplementing with formula and when we went back on Sunday morning, he had gained 8oz. Sunday night, he slept all night and lost interest in eating. We went in to see our regular pediatrician this morning and Brady's weight was right at what it was yesterday morning. His being so sleepy was due to Mary's medication that she's taking and actually just finished up this morning.
I don't know what the heck we did with all of our free time before now, and I really don't know how my sister and brother in law did this with twins.

Brady William Grant

Our boy is now one day old. He's been with us in the room all day. He's had his hearing test and is down in the nursery now getting one of his shots. It'll be dinner time for him when he comes back. We didn't post it yesterday, but he was 8 lbs, 12 oz, and 20-1/2 inches. He's great. I'm doing OK, just sore from the c section. We'll be going home tomorrow or Friday.

If it was easy....
Mary is having a hard labor. Brady is rotated so his head is on her spine and he's still not coming down. She's been having regular contractions since very early this morning. The next step is for the nurse to move him around and try to pull him down at the same time. Neither of those sound ver pleasant to me....

Happy to report that everything is going well. Mary had regular contractions last night and it looked like we may have a morning labor. She went on a potosin drip at around 6am this morning. Her Dr is coming in at 8 to break her waters. Mark your calendars now. Brady (Middle name TBD) Grant - August 6, 2008.

Update
They guestimate him at around 8lb 14oz. We go in tonight at 530 and she'll break her water at 8am. Our Dr thinks he'll be born mid to late afternoon, but who knows. Brady has still not come down any and Mary is not dilated at all. Everything is going to be good though, everyone is healthy.

The big show
Mary and I have just arrived for the final ultrasound and BioPhysical Profile. Noel is estimating his size and weight, but she has already told us we don't want to know. The ultrasound pictures were crazy big compared to the early ones. He's got big ole cheeks. His heart is pumping strong.
